Due to storage restrictions, we are only able to accept donations for current referrals. Our volunteers request specific items for the families they are working with on our Facebook group.
Please follow our Facebook group Bromley Brighter Beginnings and comment on the post if you can donate any of the requested items so that one of our volunteers can get in touch.
Our referrals cover a wide range of essential baby and child related equipment, including cots, cot beds, buggies, stair gates, baby monitors, sterilizers, bottles, clothes, toys, bedding and baby baths.
If you would like to make a cash donation to Bromley Brighter Beginnings please go to our Just Giving Page.
Cash donations are used to help local families in many ways, such as:
– purchasing items for our Newborn Packs
– providing essential electrical goods, furniture or furnishings to families facing particular hardship
– purchasing new items such as bedding and towels
– providing supermarket vouchers for families in crisis
– arranging Oyster card top-ups for women in local domestic violence refuges
The packs typically contain the following items:
For the mother:
20 maternity towels, 50 breast pads, deodorant, comb, soap, shampoo & conditioner, toothbrush and toothpaste.
For the baby:
3 bibs, bath wash, sponge, 44 nappies, 3 vests, 3 sleepsuits, nappy cream, sheet, cellular blanket, towel, 100 cotton wool pads, 100 nappy bags, 4 packs wipes, 3 muslin squares, room thermometer, digital thermometer, soother, safer sleeping advice from The Lullaby Trust.
We require all requests to come in as a referral from a local professional such as a health visitor, social worker, doctor, midwife, teacher, parenting practitioner or support worker. Please ask them to complete a referral on your behalf.
Having been through the process from the very beginning, from establishing contact with local referrers, through implementing policies and procedures, and to applying to become a registered charity, we are very happy to share our knowledge and ideas with groups in other areas who are thinking of setting up a similar scheme to Bromley Brighter Beginnings locally.
