We believe every child is entitled to a bed of their own – a comfortable, functional bed with clean, warm bedding. We work closely with referrers to ensure that the most appropriate beds are selected for each family. We provide a bed with in-built storage, so the child has somewhere to keep their belongings, and we also provide the mattress, duvet, pillows and bedding.
This project came about as we were receiving an increasing number of requests for kitchen appliances such as fridges, freezers, ovens etc. Many families were not able to afford to purchase these items themselves. Our campaign will provide these items families referred to us.
We want every child to feel comfortable and happy at school, and wear their uniform with pride and self-confidence. The financial pressure of providing school uniform places a huge burden and stress on families. Bromley Brighter Beginnings aims to ensure children are properly kitted out for school by providing ‘pre-loved’ and new school uniform as well as shoes, bags and stationery items.
We want every child to feel the magic of Christmas, believe that Father Christmas always delivers and be delighted by surprises on Christmas morning. Children living in poverty experience the stark contrast between their own reality and the abundance of others. Bromley Brighter Beginnings aims to bring joy to this stressful time by providing ‘Christmas in a Bag’ – filled with books, toys, gifts, Christmas treats, cosy nightwear, and supermarket vouchers, designed to help families who are struggling financially or living in challenging circumstances.
At Bromley Brighter Beginnings, our mission is to reduce the impact of poverty on children in the borough by providing practical support to their parents and other caregivers. This typically means providing items such as clothes, toiletries, school uniform and beds, and we help several hundred families a year.
